My name is Ayshan Nuriyeva, and I am the Founder and Musical Director of the school. I am an active, full-time Piano and MYC teacher, holding a Bachelor of Music degree and an ARCT diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

I began teaching piano out of my private home studio in the mid-2000s. As referrals grew and my roster of students expanded, I knew it was time to move into a larger, commercial space. I leased a second-floor location in the nearby Shops on Steeles and 404, and in September 2007, I founded Allegro Academy of Music.

Our students regularly earn First, Second, and Third place awards at competitions and festivals, including the Richmond Hill Art Festival, the Scarborough Piano Competition, the Kiwanis Music Festival, the Chinese Cultural Music Festival, Yip’s, and many more. All of our teachers are active performers holding an ARCT diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree, with teaching experience ranging from 5 to 30 years and backgrounds spanning Russia, Canada, and beyond.

Our primary focus is on developing healthy pianistic technique and nurturing each student’s innate musicality. We place the utmost importance on deepening students’ understanding of their chosen repertoire’s style, as well as the broader musical context it belongs to. Piano study isn’t easy — but it is deeply rewarding once the hard work pays off.

We offer year-round music programs for children and adults, with or without prior musical knowledge and experience.
